Red Windmill

The ‘Rode Molen’ is a temporary sculpture at the monumental old corn-mill ‘De Hoop’ in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. Six thousand meters of red rope were placed at the wings, helped by a team of millers and the wind, like a large spinning wheel. The work refers to the famous Dutch artist Mondriaan, father of the abstract painting. By tying together the sails of the mill with a primary red colored rope, I am searching for an abstraction out of a typical Dutch image; a windmill in the green meadow landscape.
